  1. Just a reminder. I posted a link up for your items. Take advantage of it to get more visibility. Sorry that I didn't set it up so the newest item shows first - will try to remember to do that next month. Here's the link:

  2. My understanding about the latest changes to Etsy is that promoting like this will hurt my SEO. If I am understanding it correctly, when we have a link to our shop and it is visited but no purchase is made that item goes down in the search algorithm.

Is this correct? Do you have the same understanding about Etsy? Just curious.

    1. Not being on Etsy, I was curious about what you asked, Cathy. Did a google search and not many articles addressed that issue. But I did find one. Here is what it said:

"If customers click on your item but DON’T BUY, Etsy will take note of it and eventually categorize it as a “no thanks” for that particular search term.

Now, this takes a while — so don’t freak out. Etsy doesn’t expect you to make a sale every time someone clicks on your item!!

But if over time, (like 6-12 months) Etsy notices that everyone who searches for “minimalist art print” NEVER buys your item…you won’t rank well for that term."

So I can't imagine the few clicks you get from this particular linkup (or others) will matter much in the rankings. Am not sure if anyone else promotes from here but I pin all the items and would think the extra Pinterest exposure would be a positive thing. Just my thoughts.

Oh, here's the link to the article in case you want to take a look. It's funny and a bit profane: https://blog.fuzzyandbirch.com/blog/2018/11/06/etsy-seo-in-2019/

    2. Just realized I was thinking about the INlinkz linkup when I made the comments after the quote of the article above. But it seems to me that you would have less clicks to the item from your from peeps on this blog than the linkup. Personally, I only click the social media links to promote from the blog and very rarely click the item link back to the shop unless I'm interested and want to read more. And when I do click an item link, I make sure I keep it up for at least a minute so it doesn't mess with the bounce rate.

    3. I am thinking that this is all based on search within the Etsy community and not from outside sources. The way the article reads is relative to your titles and tags along with the internal search bar on Etsy. Like Catherine, I usually just use the links provided. If you have a link to the new Etsy policies or SEO, I would love to read it for further clarification.
