Stained Glass Quilt Square 6.5" Log Cabin Appalachian Traditional Quilt Pattern in Shades of Green  $62.00

This 6.5 inch square handmade stained glass window hanging is created in the traditional Appalachian style using the Log Cabin pattern. The interlocking shades and textures in greens work beautifully together to form the quilt square. I used a variety of different glasses to create this traditional pattern, just like something right off the top of Grandma's quilt! The varied strips of glass have textures that capture the light in interesting ways. The fascinating center square is made from Bullseye "Fracture Streamer" glass and has thin bits of white confetti glass and tiny, clear rods fused into clear glass.

This decorative stained glass window hanging was constructed by using the copper foil method that was developed by L.C. Tiffany at the turn of the 20th century. The solder has been finished with a copper patina.

The photos above were taken in front of a window with natural light, on a snowy day. Colors and lighting on the textures will change with whatever is in the background and the time of day.

The stained glass quilt square is framed in copper came and has hanging loops at the top for attaching wire, chain or clear filament. Please be aware that UV can break down any plastic hanging filament and you should periodically replace the filament. Do not hang this stained glass by a suction cup as they tend to give way after a time and the piece may fall and break. I recommend copper jack chain for hanging, which is available as an additional option and looks great with the frame. If you order the quilt square with the copper chain, I will be happy to attach it for you or, if you prefer, I can leave open loops for easy hanging.
