Good morning  - I shared this LINK on the TTree about 2 weeks ago, but for those who Sell on Etsy I think you need to read their newest policy on how they deduct fees on your Sales.  I found this in the Etsy Forums:

New policy for Transaction fees -
$from Etsy monthly fees - automatically deducted from your Sales before transferring to your Bank.

DEPOSIT LESS THAN SALES

  2. I just recently let all three of my working etsy shops expire due to the confusion behind their smash and grab finance program. It was no longer easy to determine your costs, so it's been a nightmare for me to do my bookkeeping. I don't care if they took their fees out - Amazon does, as does my Shopify, but it was the lack of a coherent statement that did me in. Their colorful graphs, charts and wingdings really do nothing but pretty up the page. Plain text is good for this stuff. :) So, my Etsy shops are slowing closing up.

  3. I don't have a problem with them taking out my expenses before making a deposit. I have done better this year with Etsy then I did in the past. As of now, I will be staying with Etsy. There is a section that explains their fees in the links above.

  5. Thanks, Pam. And SO nice to see you rejoining us!!! xoxo

Etsy's had that policy for a while. For me, it's not a huge deal, although I spend more time on my finances now, checking fee charges against income and calling my bank to ensure the correct deposits are made.

I keep track through "Payments Account." You have everything listed there---all your fees, your income, etc. A running tab. Because I don't sell a whole lot, this is doable and quite easy to manage with my calculator app. However, if I were selling, say, 50 items a month, I'd go nuts keeping track of everything.

Etsy is always making some change or another. I haven't seen one yet that I liked. :) Best to belle Miss Belle from Sir Gonze

  6. Nice to read your post, Pam. Etsy's new fee policy take some time to get used to. When it first started, I had a month with no fees, then one I owed under $2.00. Unless you keep looking at the sales and listing fees all the time, you can get some surprise monthly bills.

  7. In the 10 years I've been on Etsy, my sales are down, but thanks to you guys, views are up.

I'm so dissapointed in the changes they're making. The social media buttons are gone due to some testing. It sure would be nice if they announced it BEFORE they do something.

Been adding and promoting my website more.

    1. Odd because I see the social media buttons on Etsy using my PC, but not on my iPad. Fortunately I use my PC most of the time to promote.

  8. I understand what Etsy is doing - but I would still prefer to pay my fees monthly and separately from my Sales. I did read all their explanations of fees, but seems to be a few extra fees - even if it is only $ ,75 - They did increase their fees. Went to mail a package the other day and the PO fees have gone up. Something that was $3 postage - as of Jan 1 was now $5.50 - so do we keep increasing the prices of our items to make up the differences.

Linda - unless you go to Etsy through Chrome or whatever site you use - you won’t see the Social Media buttons.
How about the “BLACK” stars - so many of us have complained in the Forums - it has just a negative look. Of course, they have no explanation???
