This handmade jewelry set includes a lotus necklace and matching earrings in a vibrant combination of three main elements: a lovely handcrafted lotus pendant, red glass teardrop beads, and grey and white shell rounds. The pendant is artisan-made and bears the red outline of a lotus stamped into a silvery background. The teardrop beads are Czech-made red pressed glass and very colorful and shiny. The shell rounds are mother of pearl, with variations of bright white and subdued gray in their coloration. There are also spots of iridescent in some of these shell beads, which lends them elegance.

To bring the three elements together in an eye-catching necklace design, I used:
• Sterling silver round beads (made in Italy)
• Ornate pewter tube beads
• Sterling lobster clasp (made in Italy)
• Sterling crimps and covers (made in USA)
• Sterling wire guards (made in USA)
• High-quality 49-strand beading wire (made in USA)

The earrings complement the necklace nicely and are stylish enough to wear as stand-alones. They have the same main beads as the necklace plus sterling silver hooks and TierraCast daisy spacers (made in USA).

The length of the earrings is approximately 1.5 inches, including the earring hooks. The length of the necklace is approximately 21.5 inches.

Eye-catching and inspirational, this unique lotus flower necklace and earrings jewelry set was handmade beaded by me with care, thought, and best wishes for its destined wearer. It comes in an eco-friendly box, wrapped and ready for gift giving. It would make a meaningful gift for anyone who practices yoga, meditation, or tai chi—or simply someone who finds beauty in the lotus symbol. Perhaps that someone is you!

ABOUT THE SYMBOL OF THE LOTUS FLOWER
As beautiful in meaning as it is in form, the lotus is one of our most positive symbols. It holds significance for anyone undergoing life changes, working toward inner peace, or dealing with life's many struggles.

There are many types of natural lotus plants, but the symbolic variety is typically the white or pink lotus that carries spiritual importance in India and Asiatic countries. In Hinduism, this aquatic flower often serves as a seat or platform for divinities such as Vishnu and Ganesh; in Buddhism, it provides a seat for bodhisattvas. Lotuses adorn headdresses and crowns in the iconography of these religions. In Tibetan scroll paintings (thangkas), they often float through skies or on rivers. Divinities and bodhisattvas often hold them as if they were precious jewels, and indeed, in meaning, the lotus is the most precious jewel of all.

The key to this meaning is the purity and beauty of the blossom despite its origins from a seed embedded in the mud of the water's bed below. Despite the world of illusion and egocentric desires (symbolized by the mud), awareness, growth, and transformation are possible (symbolized by the blossom). The lotus thus represents spiritual flowering and attainment—a great awakening from the dark, shadowy regions of ignorance and misunderstanding into the illumination of truth, beauty, and wisdom.
