This barren landscape was captured at the Craters of the Moon National Park in Idaho one summer afternoon. The park consists of nothing but volcanic lava flow that spread out over the landscape. The whole surrounding is both surreal and a wonder to behold.
Between masses of black lava, you can see small stirrings of life like moss or lichen. There are tiny blades of plant life struggling to reach the sun, and the carcasses of twisted trees petrified in their place.
To add to this scene, I rendered this shot through a filter to exaggerate the textures of the landscape and smooth out the surrounding mountains. Be amazed.
