What a beautiful handmade jewelry gift for the woman who loves birds, especially gem colored hummingbirds! The one of a kind COLIBRÍ earrings features artisan handmade copper hummingbird charms and mega-sparkle color changing Swarovski crystals. The hummingbird charms were individually artisan-created: molded, shaped, carved and fired in a kiln from beginning to end from precious metal copper clay. A single mirror image hummingbird is on each dangle. The hummers are raised against the background for wonderful texture. Since the charms were torched at high heat to bring out the details, they have a rich, rustic copper patina on the front and back. As you can see, the detailing of the hummingbirds are exquisite, especially the wings and head. Since the charms were individually handmade, they are very similar but not exactly the same. The backs of the charms are slightly domed and smooth with a bit of the hummingbird design showing through. Since the breathtaking colors of hummingbirds are so wide ranging depending on their species, two sizes and shapes of multi-colored, color shifting Swarovski crystals were used. The color is called “medium vitrail.” Vitrail is a French word for “stained glass” which perfectly describes the crystals. The colorful effect is due to a permanent multicolor foil applied to ½ of the crystal. The light catches the foil through the facets and reflects back out a shimmering display of colors: greens, pinks, blues, purple and golds, among others. The colors shift as the angle of the light changes. Eye-catching, indeed! Just above the hummingbirds sits an 8 mm faceted medium vital round. A copper disc spacer separates it from the 4 mm faceted bicone with the same stunning effect sitting on top.  The beautiful COLIBRÍ earrings were created by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs for the woman who loves unique artisan jewelry and the flying gems that are called hummingbirds. “Colibrí” is Spanish for “hummingbird.”
