Celestial Face Boho Statement Necklace

This boho handmade necklace features a lovely celestial face pendant and matching earrings with crescent moon charms. The face pendant is terracotta with turquoise glazing and was created by a ceramics artisan. It presents a gentle, peaceful face, apparently of a sleeping goddess or celestial spirit (such as the moon), with ornamentation that suggests cosmic winds, mythic zephyrs, or spiritual stirrings. There is no strict interpretation of this pendant: it lends itself to your imagination and personal inner life.

Also included in this jewelry set are cream-colored wood beads, carnelian rounds, blue howlite, honey jasper barrel beads, sterling silver finishing components, and handmade (by me) hook clasp and beaded connector.

In designing this necklace, I chose beads whose colors would represent the seasons, as signs of the passing of ordinary time. To me, the face represents a peaceful spirit or goddess drifting in dreams through eternity. I saw her as a protector of inner peace—the feminine element in mythology and Jungian psychology—and so decided to use the moon charms. As for the seasons, I chose the jasper for spring, howlite for summer, carnelian for fall, and wood for winter.

About Jasper and Carnelian
Generally, jasper is regarded as an earthy and warmly nurturing stone. Traditionally, it is believed to be a talisman of sorts. Stability, tranquility, and healing are all commonly associated with jasper. It is composed mainly of chalcedony and quartz. Lovely warm carnelian belongs to the quartz family and is also a type of chalcedony. A rich and regal-looking gemstone, it has been used for jewelry since ancient times. Traditional beliefs associate it with healing, courage building, fear dispelling, and protection against negative forces (as a talisman). It is also believed to focus energy and sharpen mental clarity in preparation for action.
