Tribal African Beaded Necklace with Earrings

This lovely tribal necklace and earrings set features handmade beads from Africa, green Russian amazonite, lapis lazuli, and brown bamboo coral. The African beads were made in Zambia by women of the Muchila Expressions project. They are nicely textured barrel-shaped treasures, sturdily constructed of glass seed beads woven into a tribal pattern. There are raised rows to the design that are nicely eye-catching. Double rows of green at either end of the woven beads form a horizontal band.
The green is carried over into the Russian amazonite rounds, which have a milky cream coloration in places. The lapis beads bring out the pretty blue of the African barrels, and the bamboo coral adds a beautiful earthy quality. Also included small bronze Czech glass rondelles, a TierraCast hook clasp, gold-filled crimps and wire guards, and 49-strand beading wire. The clasp, crimps, guards, and wire were made in the USA.
The length of the necklace is approximately 21.5 inches. The matching earrings created with Russian amazonite, lapis, and bronze rondelles.
This set was designed and handmade beaded by me with care, thought, and best wishes for its destined wearer. It comes in an eco-friendly box, wrapped and ready for gift giving!
About the Muchila Expressions Project
I purchased the African beads at a bead store (BeadCache) in Massachusetts that has partnered with Options for Children to establish a women's craft collective in Muchila, Zambia. The store donates 100% of the profits from its sale of the beads to Options for Children, thus helping to support this most worthy project! The women make beads, bracelets, and baskets.
About Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli has been used for jewelry since ancient times and was highly valued as a royal gemstone in ancient Egypt. I just love the textures in this tribal necklace. The handmade beads from the women's craft collective really add a lot of high interest points that make you want to reach out and touch the necklace.
