The unique, one of a kind earrings feature two sided Czech glass elephants with raised trunks created from rich colored maroon glass. To add a rustic, vintage charm and to bring out the details of the eyes, mouth, ears, legs and trunk, the glass beads were given an earthy lichen gray Picasso finish and then washed with metallic bronze. Due to their handmade nature, each elephant (and each side of each bead) is a bit different, as you can see in the photos. Because the elephant beads are two sided, the earrings look fabulous from every angle!

To add unexpected bursts of color, stacked onto the back of the elephant beads are ridged, bright orange Czech glass melon beads with a gold Picasso wash and rustic aqua Czech glass nuggets. Copper daisy spacers separate the two colorful beads and an aged copper disc separates the ebads from the elephants. Sterling silver earwires with copper bead accents finish the earrings beautifully. Carefully designed and artisan handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the MAROODI earrings were created for the woman who cherishes the majesty of elephants - and worries that their population is rapidly dwindling rapidly. “Maroodi” is Somali for “elephant.”
