The two-sided coin shaped Czech glass beads were created from orange glass with a stone like travertine finish in browns, dark gray, minty green and misty blue. While the glass was still molten, an eight-pointed star within a circle was impressed into each side. A gold Picasso finish was added to bring out the details of the star and the circle Since the Czech star beads are two sided, the earrings look wonderful from any angle. *** This particular star is a symbol of the ancient Sumerian goddess Inanna which was later worshipped by the Babylonians, Assyrians and others under the name Ishtar, the Queen of Heaven. She was the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, war, justice, and political power. Because Ishtar was associated with the planet Venus, the star is also known as the Star of Venus.  To add a rich copper glow, intricate filigree flower petal bead caps were placed on the top and bottom of the star beads.
