*** The oldest masks that have been discovered approximately 9000 years ago - although, according to experts, masks were worn at least 30,000-40,000 years ago. Masks were worn during celebrations, rituals, initiations, crop harvesting, war preparation, peace and troubled times for a variety of different reasons depending on the culture. They are still worn today.
Tibetan eye agate and Czech glass beads were stacked above the tribal mask faces. From ancient times, gemstones with an “eye” have been valued highly. They are believed to ward away the evil eye, change negative energy into positive and to balance life. As the name implies, these agate gemstone beads are from Tibet, adding even more ethnic vibes to the design. The gemstones are translucent when worn, positively glowing, each stone having two eyes for even more good luck. To add pops of color to the earrings, faceted ruby red Czech glass nuggets and turquoise Czech glass discs are found above the agate, separated from the gemstones by a copper disc spacer. Sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bead accents finish the motif perfectly.
