The BIRDS OF A FEATHER handmade earrings are a perfect jewelry gift idea for the woman who is a birder or just loves birds! The fun, one of a kind earrings feature vintage tea tin charms with a whimsical nuthatch design. To simply and perfectly complement the birds, three Swarovski crystals hang in a cluster below the dangles. The whimsical bird on the charms is a nuthatch, perhaps a pygmy nuthatch, in a pose that is so evocative of the tiny bird as it creeps up and down a tree searching for insects. The art work has a watercolor feel, with the bird’s black head, gray back and peachy underside. A single green leaf is found with a misty, swirling background. The unique upcycled nuthatch charms were individually hand cut from a vintage tea tin, the edges ground to a silky smooth finish. The backside of each charm is a matte gold.
To add eye catching sparkle to the bird earrings, a cluster of three Swarovski crystals and sterling silver beads dangle below the charms. The color is called “padparadscha,” a delicate mixture of pink and orange reminiscent of the rare sapphire of the same name, perfectly highlighting the peachy color of the underside of the nuthatch. To add even more glitter, a single padparadscha crystal was added to each sterling silver earwire.
