Filled with the rich colors and ancient vibes of the Desert Southwest, the TAOS TRAILS handmade earrings are a perfect jewelry gift for the woman who has an exuberant boho spirit. The richly colored earrings feature rustic wing dangles, artisan frosted minty green lampwork beads and coral and teal Czech glass beads. The two-sided organic wing dangles were individually artisan hand formed (in Taos) from lightweight white stoneware clay. Once they were air dried, they were hand painted with shades of turquoise; copper “stains” were added for an ancient patina feel. The pieces were kiln fired several times for strength and durability. The front has a wing design - maybe based on a dragonfly? The back is a totally different design - maybe based on beetle wings? Whatever inspired them, the dangles have such a wonderfully primitive feel to them. Since they were individually hand formed, you will notice that they are similar in design but not exactly the same, something that makes handmade so enjoyable!
To perfectly complement the lighter turquoise color of the rustic wings, minty green lampwork beads were added above, capped on the top and bottom by shiny copper daisy spacers. The minty lampwork glass beads, also artisan made, were etched for a soft, frosted sea glass look that positively captures and radiates glowing goodness. Stacked above the lampwork beads are two types of Czech glass. The first, to add a pop of unexpected color, are deep coral discs with a shiny silver wash. Next are sparkling teal tri-cut Czech beads with a rustic mossy green Picasso finish, separated from the discs by a copper daisy spacer. The unique earrings are finished with sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bead accents.
