FALL FUN - Artisan Handmade

It's time for another group blog, this one called "Fall Fun - Artisan Handmade." If you want to participate, share two of your handmade beauties in fall colors.  The InLinkz closes at noon my time (MDST) on Friday, September 10.  As always, when I finish the blog and it posts (hopefully by the 12th), I ask that you leave a comment and promote all the items and the blog on at least 2 social media sites. You are also welcome to share from InLinkz as items are posted, but also please share from the blog once it's up.  Seamus and I look forward to seeing your picks!

Golden Oldies

I hosted this blog theme a year or so ago and thought it was fun.  If you want to participate, please share two of your "golden oldies," creations that you thought would sell right away but are still lingering in your shop.  Know we ALL have some of those!  The InLinkz closes this Wednesday, June 23, at 12:00 p.m. my time (MDST).  I hope to have the "Golden Oldies" blog (or whatever I end up calling it) posted Thursday, June 24, on my Indiemade blog.  As always, I ask that you promote each item and the blog on at least 2 social media sites when it comes out.  Seamus and I look forward to seeing what is shared . . . and maybe help sell several of them!

Seems I can't stop thinking about flowers right now.  It's always a miracle to go out and see what has started to bloom.  So I thought, why not do a flower blog?  If you want to participate, please leave two of your handmade floral items in the link up below.  The link up is open until noon my time (Rocky Mountain time) this Wednesday, May 26.  I hope to have the blog ready to share on the morning of Thursday, May 27.  As always, I ask that you share all the items on at least 2 social media sites and also the blog when it's done.

Look forward to seeing LOTS of flowers!

Julia's Roses (And A Few Irises) Blog

I have a favor to ask.  A friend who lives nearby grows the most amazing roses - plus she is one of the nicest ladies I've ever met.  I blogged a few days ago about the roses, sharing some of the photos I recently took of her beauties.  I'm going to send her a link to the blog.  I know she will LOVE to read what you have to say about the roses, so, if you will, please stop by my blog and leave a comment.  I'd truly appreciate it and I know it will make Julia happy.  Thanks!

Oldies But Goodies, Artisan Handmade

Hey, everyone.  I want to do a blog called "Oldies but Goodies" - something like that.  The theme is focused on items in our shops that we were SURE would sell as soon as they were listed . . . but there they still sit!  We all have those.  If you are interested, please share two items that you'd like featured . . . . and, who knows, maybe with the extra exposure, the item(s) will sell.  Let's hope!  All I ask is that you promote the blog and each item wherever you can.  Please have your items shared by this Thursday, August 1, at 12:00 noon.  I hope to have the blog finished by Friday, but since I have a show Saturday, it might not be up until Sunday.

How to Make Images Clickable on Your Blog Post

Now that most of you have become somewhat comfortable creating a blog post here, I’ll share some helpful hints and tips every once in a while so you get the most bang for the buck in blogging. The posts will be shared here and also on the “How to Update Blog” page.

Aaawww!  Just how doggone cute was Seamus as a puppy???

When I first started blogging on ArtFire, a majority of people still used their PCs to read online articles / buy items. But now, as most of you know, there is a huge uptick of cell phone and tablet use to browse / buy on the internet. I don’t know about you, but when I browse on my phone, the print and pictures are pretty small, even when I enlarge it. Plus I oftentimes have “fumble fingers” when trying to click on a link. That’s where having clickable pictures on your blog post is very important. I’ve read several articles that say a majority of people would rather click on an item photo than on a link, even when they are on a PC. I know I do! I always include both a clickable link and a clickable photo on my posts. And . . . I do sometimes get annoyed when an item photo isn’t clickable and have to go searching for a link. One of my mottos is to try to make it easy as I can for potential customers to find their way into my shop.

Some of you have clickable photos back to the item in your shop. And some of you don’t. So I want to share how to make your photos clickable on Blogger if you decide you want to do that.

After adding your item photo(s) when working on your blog:

1. Copy the item URL in your shop.

2. Click on the photo in the blog. It will look shaded.

3. Look at the blog dashboard. The link icon will be shaded. Click on it to "unshade" it.

4. Click on the photo again to shade it.

5. Click on the link icon again and a dialog box will show up. Paste the item URL and click "OK"

The photo should be clickable when you share the post.

I hope this helps.

By the way, the pic of Seamus as a puppy isn’t clickable (I just wanted to share how adorable he was as a puppy - besides, he's NOT for sale) but the item photo is clickable.
