The exquisite teardrop-shaped flower dangles were individually handmade.  A pink rose permanent transfer was added to white polymer clay, the pink roses and green leaves highlighted wonderfully against the white background. Two pink roses in full boom and several partly opened buds are seen along with green leaves. A shiny, protective resin coating was added to the front of the dangles for years of wearing pleasure. The back of the earrings have a matte pink polymer clay finish. To perfectly complement the rose dangles, artisan lampwork glass beads and faceted Czech rondelles were used. The lampwork glass beads were artisan handmade from translucent pale pink glass with a frosted, sea glass look. When worn, the lampwork beads absolutely glow in the light! To add even more pink goodness, a translucent Czech rondelle created from strawberry pink glass and milky opal glass was added above each lampwork bead, separated by a triangle-shaped, sterling silver spacer bead. Since the rondelles are crisply faceted, they add sparkle to the design. Sterling silver French hook earwires with pink Czech glass rondelle accents finish the lovely earrings. Roses in the Desert - Julia's Beauties!

 

Julia, a good friend, doesn't live too far from our house.  She grows some of the most beautiful roses, not something I originally thought would do well here in the Desert Southwest.  But they thrive and aren't subject to many of the diseases as in more humid areas (no nasty chemicals used on them!).  Before the pandemic, Seamus and I would visit her at least once a week, usually on a Saturday afternoon for 2 hours or so.  Once the pandemic hit, we still visited, socially distanced outside, through heat and cold.  Seamus adores his Aunt Julia.  She spoils him by feeding him many of his favorite organic bison and apple jerky treats and loves on him throughout the stay.  

I'm not sure how many years I've been doing a "Julia's Roses" blog - at least 3 or 4 now.  This is the newest addition  - a few weeks late but it's done.  So, if you love roses, I'd appreciate if you take a look, and, if you are so inclined, leave a comment on the blog itself.   Social media links are below the red rose.  Here's the link to the blog:

Mother of Pearl Rose Flower Necklace, Purple Pearls Handmade Jewelry

With a radiant mother of pearl shell flower pendant, the GARDEN OF THE OCEAN handmade necklace makes an absolutely delightful statement whenever worn. The one of a kind necklace features a glowing white mother of pearl carved pendant, rich purple baroque pearls and lead free pewter lantern beads. A beautiful hand carved rose with flowing petals and a stem with two leaves can be found in the middle of the mother of pearl pendant. A line was carved all along the outer edge. Because of the carving, the pendant has beautiful texture which is highlighted when the light hits it just right. Unfortunately, the photos don’t show just how luminous the natural radiance of the shell is as the light plays across it. It’s almost as if the pendant has its own internal light source! The back is silky smooth and slightly concave. To highlight the pendant perfectly, rich purple freshwater pearls make up the main body of the necklace. Since the large beauties are more oval shape, with many having natural ridges, they are called baroque pearls. Between each set of three pearls at the front of the necklace are glowing pewter lantern beads separated by sterling silver daisy spacers and small sterling beads. Each pearl is separated from the other with sterling silver beads for a sinuous feel. Soul of the Rose Art Earrings, Waterhouse Ceramic Handmade Jewelry

The "Soul of the Rose" handmade earrings feature artisan handmade ceramic drops inspired by a famous painting, Czech glass roller beads and Swarovski crystals - unique are jewelry for women.

What a look of ecstasy the lady has on her face as she breathes in deeply the scent of a rose. The exquisite art earrings feature romantic ceramic drops based on John William Waterhouse’s famous painting, THE SOUL OF THE ROSE (sometimes also called “My Sweet Rose”), pink glass roller beads with copper cores and Swarovski crystals. The rustic teardrops were individually artisan hand formed from earthstone ceramic and kiln fired with a high gloss glaze. Then a permanent ceramic decal with the woman and rose was applied and the drops were fired again with bronze luster. What rich detailing there is on the drops: an elegantly dressed woman with glowing red hair and rosy cheeks has pulled a pink rose to her face and deeply inhales the heady fragrance. The dangles are mirror images but the original painting has the woman facing left. The back of the dangles are finished with a rustic, shiny golden bronze glaze. To perfectly complement the color of roses and the woman’s skin tones, gorgeous Czech glass roller beads and Swarovski crystals were used. The faceted beads have a copper metallic center which shows through the various shades of pink and clear glass. Two roller beads were stacked on each other. Since the beads are faceted they add sparkle to the design, along with the metallic copper glow. To add even more sparkle, a faceted Swarovski was nestled into the top roller bead. The color is called ‘vintage rose,” a wonderful choice. Sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bead accents are a lovely finish to the design. Red Roses White Hearts Earrings, Valentines Day Handmade Jewelry Gift

The "Romance" handmade earrings feature artisan created enamel hearts and roses charms and faceted red coral - unique Valentine's Day jewelry for women.

The exquisite ROMANCE earrings have everything it takes to make these a special handmade gift of jewelry for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or a birthday!  White enamel hearts with words and a single red rose on each are complemented with faceted red coral. The hearts, which are artisan handmade, started out as copper blanks. Shiny white enamel glass powder was fused onto the front of copper hearts then a stencil and brown enamel glass was used to create the lines of words (French? Latin?). A rich red rose with green leaves and stems were then free hand fused on top. Since the roses were created free hand, you can see that they are very similar but not exactly the same. The back of the charms are enameled in black. Despite their larger size, the one of a kind hearts and roses earrings are lightweight to wear.  Since the heart charms are the main focal of the earrings, simple red coral rounds were stacked above the hearts, capped on the top and bottom with copper bicone beads to add lovely texture and glow. Butterfly and Red Rose Dangle Earrings, Living Coral Handmade Jewelry Gift

The "Butterfly Waltz" handmade earrings feature faux tin copper butterfly and red rose charms and living coral Czech glass discs.

The exquisite BUTTERFLY WALTZ handmade earrings look like a step back in time with their vintage inspired beauty. The one of a kind earrings feature artisan made butterfly and red rose copper charms complemented perfectly by Czech glass discs in the trendy Pantone color “living coral.” The unique charms look like they were cut from old cookie or tea tins. But they only mimic vintage tins since they were hand cut, filed and sanded from modern copper. A permanent metal transfer was then applied: a lovely black, purple and white butterfly looking like it’s going to waltz across a coral red rose looking for nectar. Because the charms were individually handmade, they are very similar, but, if you look closely, you can see a bit of a difference. The back of the charms are glowing copper which will gradually gain a patina over time. Since the charms are made from copper, the earrings are very lightweight to wear.

To add a simple finishing touch, three Czech glass discs were stacked above the charms. As was mentioned above, the color is called “living coral, the Pantone color of the year. The pairing of the charms with Czech discs add simple elegance to the overall design. Sterling silver French hooks with copper bead accents finish the earrings perfectly.
