Southwest Spirals Earrings, Rustic Polymer Clay Turquoise Jewelry Gift

southwest canyons spiral handmade jewelry with lampwork and turquoise

The "Desert Canyonlands" handmade earrings feature artisan polymer clay petroglyph spiral dangles, artisan  lampwork glass beads and genuine turquoise - unique jewelry for women.

Filled with the weathered, organic look of petroglyphs found in a deep canyon in the Desert Southwest, the DESERT CANYONLANDS are a perfect jewelry gift for the woman who loves rustic looking, artisan jewelry. The one of a kind earrings feature artisan polymer clay dangles, artisan lampwork glass beads and genuine turquoise. The dangles were individually handmade from a single piece of white polymer clay, the swirling spiral design drawn freehand and then incised. The polymer clay was then cut in half, washed with dark brown and rusty copper acrylic pigments, and after the final curing, a crystal protectant was applied. Because the dangles are made from polymer clay, the earrings are very lightweight to wear.  To perfectly complement the Southwest feel of the petroglyph design, speckled brown lampwork glass beads and genuine turquoise was used. The lampwork beads, also artisan handmade, were created from clear glass that was peppered with brown glass frit to make dots and splotches, perfect with the small dots on the polymer clay dangles. Stacked on the lampwork beads are genuine turquoise gemstone rounds, separated by copper daisy spacers. The turquoise has more of a greenish cast with a bit of pale brown. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the unique DESERT CANYONLANDS definitely evoke the spirit of the Desert Southwest for the woman who enjoys wearing artisan jewelry.

Petroglyph Earrings, Boho Rustic Ancient Lightweight Handmade Jewelry

petroglyph inspired earrings for women

Big and bold, the unique ART OF THE ANCIENTS handmade earrings will definitely add a healthy dose of lightweight boho dazzle to your earlobes! The rustic one of a kind earrings feature artisan handmade, petroglyph inspired polymer clay dangles in an etched and multicolored assortment of hand painted designs. Stacked above the rustic charms are glowing Czech glass Saturn beads, faceted black Czech glass rondelles and jet Swarovski crystals to perfectly complement the colors of the polymer clay pieces. The glorious dangles were individually created by polymer clay artist Pati Bannister. A freehand design inspired by the petroglyph art of the Desert Southwest, each long, triangular dangle was individually hand carved into black polymer clay with spirals, swirls flowing lines, and other designs. They were then painted with acrylic metallic pigments in various shades of gold, sunset orange, blue and pale green. As you can see, each charm is different but is very similar in look and feel. The back of each polymer clay dangle is signed by the artist and also painted. A light coat of crystal varnish was applied to each dangle, leaving them with a smooth, silky feel and an amazing sheen.

To brilliantly complement the colors of the rustic artisan polymer clay dangles, a Czech glass Saturn bead and black glass and crystals were added above the charms. The Saturn beads are varying shades of sangria red and clear glass with a lichen green / gray Picasso finish on the top and bottom of the beads. The raised center is crisply faceted for subtle sparkle. Above the Saturn beads, separated by copper daisy spacers, are faceted black Czech glass rondelles and sparkling “jet” black Swarovski crystals for even more sparkle. A perfect jewelry gift idea for the woman who appreciates wearable art and loves a boho look, the unique ART OF THE ANCIENTS artisan earrings were carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.

*** Please note: Despite being large earrings, they are very lightweight to wear since the major pieces are created from polymer clay.
