Terracotta and Red Coral Tribal Necklace, Mali Beads Handmade Jewelry

terracotta and red coral tribal necklace

The "Song of the Kalahari" necklace features individually handmade terracotta trumpet beads and small ridged terracotta beads with red coral and copper - one of a kind jewelry for women.

If you love wearing one of a kind, tribal inspired jewelry, the SONG OF THE KALAHARI handmade necklace is perfect for you. The organic necklace features natural terracotta clay beads, red coral and copper. Two types of earthy terracotta beads were used in the necklace design, each bead individually handcrafted by an artist in Mali. Nine long trumpet shaped beads that were inscribed at the wide end create a unique collar.

Separating the trumpets are small, ridged terracotta beads flanked on each side by red coral rondelles and copper beads. The colors of the natural beads, which are the same colors as the soil of the Kalahari Desert, range from a light red to a pale beige. Since each bead was individually crafted, each one is a bit different, giving a definite boho flair to the necklace. A twisted copper toggle clasp set finishes the necklace beautifully. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the SONG OF THE KALAHARI tribal necklace is a perfect gift for the woman who adores wearing one of a kind artisan jewelry. “Terracotta” means “baked earth.”

Chunky Tribal Necklace, Vintage Resin Bone Howlite Handmade Jewelry

vintage resin, bone and gemstone handmade chunky tribal necklace

The "Tribal Adventure" handmade necklace feature vintage resin beads, African batik bone beads and turquoise howlite - unique jewelry for women.

Filled with fabulous ethnic boho vibes, the chunky TRIBAL ADVENTURE necklace definitely makes a unique eye catching statement whenever worn (which will be often!). The one of a kind necklace features three vintage rondelle shaped black and white striped resin beads, black and white African batik horn beads and turquoise howlite gemstones. The three striped focal beads were upcycled from a vintage necklace and mimic African batik beads. Created from man made resin, they are in excellent shape and show very little wear and sport a high gloss finish.  To perfectly highlight the vintage resin beads, six fair trade batik bone beads were used, each individually handmade by members of an African artists co-op in Ghana. They are black with white accents and hints of dark brown. The batik beads are a unique shape: roundish but with three large “facets” cut on each end adding wonderful eye interest and texture. Beautiful turquoise howlite gemstone rounds separated the vintage beads and batik beads. Howlite is naturally and off white stone with gray to black matix. Since howlite takes a dye easily, it can be found in a wide variety of colors, such as these soft turquoise colored beauties. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the TRIBAL ADVENTURE necklace is perfect jewelry for the woman who adores ethnic inspired jewelry and loves to wear one of a kind designs.

Vintage Kuchi Coin Necklace, Red Coral Afghan Tribal Handmade Jewelry

vintage kuchi coin necklace for women

For thousands of years coins have been used the world over to show wealth by decorating clothing and being worn as jewelry and other adornments. The unique TRAVELER handmade necklace features a vintage mixed metal and opaque red glass Kuchi coin pendant handcrafted in Afghanistan. Just imagine the artist who originally fashioned the tribal pendant. How many hands did the pendant have to pass through and the distance it had to travel to end up as the beautiful focal on this particular necklace! To perfectly highlight the Kuchi pendant, red coral oval shaped beads were used, along with pewter hexagon beads and sterling silver. Created for the woman who adores wearing unique ethnic inspired jewelry, the one of a kind TRAVELER necklace was carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.

Like all tribal jewelry, Kuchi jewelry is rich with the influences of many cultures. Beautiful pieces with colorful glass jewels, the jewelry originally was crafted by nomadic Pashtoon tribes that, according to the seasons, wandered the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan along ancient routes. The word “Kuchi” itself is derived from a Persian word meaning “migration,” referring to nomads or gypsies and does not describe a particular people.
