Boho Chic Egyptian Cat Earrings
with Bastet Amulet Charms & Amethyst

These Egyptian cat earrings with amethyst and quartz would make the perfect gift for anyone who loves boho chic styling and meaningful jewelry with historic links to ancient cultures. Cat lovers will also find them special. The charms represent the goddess Bastet (also known as Bast) and are good luck amulets especially fitting for mothers and anyone with maternal concerns.

Included in these long dangle earrings are the following:
• Cat amulet charm
• Amethyst star-cut rounds
• Amethyst faceted rounds
• Clear faceted quartz rounds
• Sterling silver rondelles (made in Italy)
• Sterling silver bead caps (made in USA)
• Sterling silver earring hooks

These pretty dangles were handmade by me with great care, thought, and best wishes for their destined owner. They are a stylish pair and fun to wear, especially for cat lovers and anyone interested in ancient spirituality and history.

About Bastet, the Ancient Egyptian Cat Goddess

In ancient Egypt, cats were considered sacred, their status as dieties well established by the third century BC. They were likely accorded this honor because of their essential role in controlling rats and other vermin, and because they were capable of overpowering snakes, including cobras—an impressive feat. Bastet was a prominent cat goddess during the first millennium BC. She had evolved from an earlier Lower-Kingdom incarnation, Bast, a lioness warrior diety.

Bastet could be depicted fully as a cat or, especially later in ancient Egyptian history, represented as a woman with a cat's head. Over time, she became associated with motherhood, kittens sometimes added to her imagery. As a maternal figure, Bastet became a good luck figure in women's amulet jewelry. During the Greek Ptolemaic Dynasty in Egypt (305 BC to 30 BC), Bastet became syncretized with the Greek moon goddess, Artemis, further solidifying her role as a special figure for women.

About Amethyst

A member of the quartz family, amethyst is traditionally considered a protective, talismanic stone. The name amethyst comes from the Greek word "amethusos," which means "not drunk." The gemstone is associated with the crown chakra, and is the birthstone for February. Amethysts are actually crystals and often have inclusions, clouding, and other interesting elements to them, as well as various shadings of their distinctive purple color.
