Mother Mary Queen of Ireland Rosary Bracelet
- Our Lady of Knock, St. Patrick Catholic Chaplet -

This rosary bracelet is dedicated to Mother Mary Queen of Ireland, also known as Our Lady of Knock, and St. Patrick. The bracelet has a color design inspired by the Irish countryside, offering a vibrant combo of green quartzite, purple amethyst, and Swarovski emerald and yellow crystals. The quartzite is a beautiful shade of green (added and heat enhanced), reminiscent of Ireland in the summer. The amethyst beads represent the late summer's lovely heather, and the yellow crystals recall the yellow gorse that, as purple's complementary hue, always makes the heather look even prettier.

The Italian holy medal is a beautifully detailed two-sided base-metal oval. It depicts the visionary scene of Our Lady of Knock on the front and the patrician figure of St. Patrick on the back. A complimentary holy card is included, from La Salette National Shrine, a sweet place of peace and contemplation in MA. The medal is from a lovely Trappist abbey, Mount St. Mary, in Wrentham, MA.

Included are the following: small faceted amethyst, TierraCast daisy spacers, sterling silver crimps and wire guards, silver-plated lobster clasp, an extender chain, and high-quality 49-strand beading wire. Most of these items were made in the USA.

ABOUT OUR LADY OF KNOCK
Our Lady of Knock is also known as the Queen of Ireland. Both are titles given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in association with her 1879 apparition in the town of Knock, County Mayo, Ireland. The vision occurred on a rainy August evening near the south wall of the town's Catholic church, and was first witnessed by a rectory housekeeper, Mary McLoughlin, and a friend's sister, Mary Byrne. That area of the church grounds, including the wall, glowed with a beautiful light, revealing an apparition of Our Lady, who looked life-sized and was flanked by two smaller visionary figures, St. Joseph and St. John. Mary Byrne hurried home to gather her family and bring them to the site. Other townspeople soon joined them. Travelers at a far distance also noticed the strange light around the church. After 3 hours or so, the vision and the light slowly disappeared. Unlike many other Marian visitations, such as those in Fatima, this one involved no auditory communication.

The Catholic Church is typically conservative in its confirmation of sacred visions, and in this case, the diocese suggested that a certain Protestant constable had played a joke on everyone. The people of Knock refused to accept that theory, though. Soon many others in Ireland heard about the visitation, and the next year, Knock became a pilgrimage site. Two years later, an archbishop from Toronto visited the site and later claimed that Our Lady of Knock had healed him of an illness. In 1936, Mary Byrne, now age 86, was interviewed by Church representatives. Her experience at Knock had been related to Catholic authorities back in 1879, and now remained exactly the same.

In 1971, the apparition of Knock was approved as "quite probable" by the Church. Although the vision has never been fully confirmed, the church at Knock is a popular draw for Irish believers as well as Catholic visitors to Ireland. My own visit there was a contemplative experience, and that the weather was "soft," with misty rain, seemed quite appropriate. I've included a picture I took there, of the new church—Our Lady Queen of Ireland—which was built in 1976 at the visitation site. The statues were added to the church in 1994.

Quartzite is considered a stone of stabilization, especially during times of many changes or great change. Amethyst is considered a stone of protection that deflects negative influences, lowers stress, and calms the mind. It is the birthstone for February.

Vintage Tibetan Azurite Bead Earrings, Crystals Handmade Jewelry Gift

Countdown to Mother's Day 2020 Dates

I don't see where I made this announcement yet. I know we have talked about it, but here are the official start dates and end dates for the 2020 Countdown to Mother's Day.

Begins at noon E.S.T. on March 6, 2020
Ends Sunday night of the weekend of May 1, 2020.

At this point, we will stay with Inlinkz, and I hope that Artfire gets their act together, so that we can post those links. If not, we will do work arounds in order to ensure that those still on AF can  participate.  I have not been involved in the  conversations between Maria and Artfire, so I do not know where we stand with this at this time.

No matter, we will start on schedule and have fun promoting. :)

Light Orange AB Crystal Size Small Bracelet

THE SINGING BEADER

This bracelet has beautiful light orange AB Czech faceted, fire- polished crystals accented with antiqued silver flower spacers. The bracelet is recommended for a wrist size no larger than 6 ¼ inches so that the bracelet dangles slightly over the hand. You can measure your wrist with a standard cloth tape measure just above your wrist bone. The bracelet fastens with an antiqued silver rope style toggle clasp. See photo 10.

AB (aurora borealis) crystals are created from clear crystals but they are coated with a special film on one side. This special film reflects light spectacularly and shines in different colors depending on its surroundings. So pretty!

The bracelet is professionally finished with silver-filled guardian protectors. These protectors keep the beading wire from rubbing against the clasp. Silver-plated crimp covers were also placed over the crimps.

Celtic Cross Earrings with Eternal Knot Charms

- Rainforest Jasper & Carnelian, Sterling Silver Hooks -

These Celtic cross earrings are a meaningful combination of eternal-knot cross charms, rainforest jasper rounds, and faceted carnelian gemstone beads. The cross charms are silver-on-pewter lead-free beauties and were made in the USA by TierraCast. They are decorated with an interlacing Celtic knot design that is also an eternal knot, a symbol that makes the earrings appropriate as a token of love as well as a religious gift. 

The jasper beads have various earthy shades of green, and like most beads of this type, they contain nodules and quartz inclusions, making each bead unique. I love this feature because it makes the beads interesting. Here, I chose the jasper to suggest the more subtle greens of the Irish landscape, especially on an overcast "soft day." The rich carnelian beads are a nice complement, bringing a special warmth to the earrings, along with a bit of sparkle from their faceting.  

Also included in these Ireland-inspired earrings are TierraCast rhodium-plated bead caps (made in USA), sterling silver rondelle spacers (made in Italy), sterling silver earring hooks, and clear ear guards, which provide extra security when the earrings are worn. ABOUT THE CELTIC KNOT SYMBOL
There are several variations of the Celtic knot, but all share the perceivable absence of a beginning or an ending to their interlacing line: they are endless knots. Also known as mystic knots, they may represent eternity and timelessness, and thus have a spiritual dimension. Some consider Celtic knots protective of current good fortune; others see them as symbolizing the inner integration of the self.

ABOUT THE GEMSTONES
Rainforest Jasper - This is considered a power stone of inner balance (Yin/Yang) that is beneficial for self-esteem and casting aside burdensome issues from the past. It is thought to strengthen perserverence and aid with communication as well as meditation. Creativity, joy, and healing are also associated with this gemstone.

Horses Counted Cross Stitch Pattern, Xstitch Pattern

The field around the corner is filled with horses and their scampering colts. I stopped one afternoon to stalk them with my lens, and although the colts were dancing around, most of my colt shots are better for cards and not cross stitch. I took a good photo of the horses being horses and that translated well into cross stitch, so here is my horse cross stitch pattern.

Copper Ammonite Necklace, Spiral Unakite Peridot Coral Handmade Jewelry

The "Whispers of Time" handmade necklace features an artisan copper ammonite pendant, unakite, copal and peridot gemstones - unique jewelry for women.

Filled with amazing earthy elegance, the WHISPERS OF TIME handmade necklace is a perfect gift for the woman who loves to wear stylish artisan jewelry. The one of a kind necklace features an artisan created copper ammonite spiral pendant, unakite barrels, green peridot nuggets and pale pink coral drums. The gorgeous ammonite pendant was handcrafted from beginning to end from precious copper metal clay.  The solid copper pendant was patinated and polished to bring out the incredible detail. An actual ammonite, from 240 - 65 million years old, was used to make the mold for the pendant! As you can see in the photos, the ammonite gracefully ridged spirals.  A ridged bail at the top of the pendant attaches it to the main body of the necklace.  Three types of gemstones perfectly complement the pendant: unakite, peridot and coral. The colors of the barrel-shaped unakite are very earthy: mostly shades of mottled green with dark terracotta accents, although a few beads are mostly terracotta with a few sprinkles of green. To lighten the color of the design, pale pink coral drums are scattered throughout the necklace, capped by copper spacers and green peridot nuggets. The coral is faceted so provides subtle sparkle to the necklace. The green peridot are nugget-shaped so they are similar in size but not exactly.
