Dragonfly and Bamboo Pendant Necklace, Brass Turquoise Magnesite Handmade Jewelry

The gorgeous "Halcyon" handmade necklace features a dragonfly and bamboo brass pendant, turquoise magnesite cubes and copper - unique jewelry for women.

Filled with peaceful spring and summer happiness, the HALCYON handmade necklace is a thoughtful jewelry gift for the woman who loves a one of a kind, artisan design. The beautiful necklace features a brass dragonfly and bamboo pendant, turquoise magnesite cubes and copper beads. The gorgeous pendant has a raised dragonfly and sweeping bamboo design against a textured background. As you can see in the photos, the detailing is brilliant. And to add even more eye-appeal and to add a rustic vibe, the pendant was given a white patina for the background with a turquoise blue patina to bring out the dragonfly and the bamboo. Please be aware that the white patina shows up more in the photos - in real life, it is much more mellow with the brass. The back of the dragonfly and bamboo pendant is naturally patinated brass. To perfectly complement the turquoise blue patina of the pendant, turquoise magnesite and copper were used. The turquoise magnesite was permanently dyed a gorgeous turquoise blue color with natural brown veining in most of the pieces. Adding even more texture to the necklace design, the magnesite is cube-shaped, a shape you don’t see very often. Three magnesite cubes were used to make each grouping with copper beads separating each cube for fluidity in the necklace drape. Copper Ammonite Necklace, Spiral Unakite Peridot Coral Handmade Jewelry

The "Whispers of Time" handmade necklace features an artisan copper ammonite pendant, unakite, copal and peridot gemstones - unique jewelry for women.

Filled with amazing earthy elegance, the WHISPERS OF TIME handmade necklace is a perfect gift for the woman who loves to wear stylish artisan jewelry. The one of a kind necklace features an artisan created copper ammonite spiral pendant, unakite barrels, green peridot nuggets and pale pink coral drums. The gorgeous ammonite pendant was handcrafted from beginning to end from precious copper metal clay.  The solid copper pendant was patinated and polished to bring out the incredible detail. An actual ammonite, from 240 - 65 million years old, was used to make the mold for the pendant! As you can see in the photos, the ammonite gracefully ridged spirals.  A ridged bail at the top of the pendant attaches it to the main body of the necklace.  Three types of gemstones perfectly complement the pendant: unakite, peridot and coral. The colors of the barrel-shaped unakite are very earthy: mostly shades of mottled green with dark terracotta accents, although a few beads are mostly terracotta with a few sprinkles of green. To lighten the color of the design, pale pink coral drums are scattered throughout the necklace, capped by copper spacers and green peridot nuggets. The coral is faceted so provides subtle sparkle to the necklace. The green peridot are nugget-shaped so they are similar in size but not exactly. The peridot is also faceted for more glitter.  Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the unique WHISPERS OF TIME necklace is a perfect gift for the woman who loves fossils or just adores wearing one of a kind artisan designer jewelry.

Spiral Gold Rush Pendant Necklace Fancy Jasper Pearls Handmade Jewelry

The "Gold Rush Spirals" handmade necklace features an artisan polymer clay pendant, fancy jasper gemstones and glowing pearls - unique jewelry gift for women.

When you pair a beautifully rustic pendant with sleek, earthy gemstones, you can’t help but to create visual goodness! The GOLD RUSH SPIRALS handmade necklace proves that. The one of a kind necklace features an artisan created pendant, fancy jasper ovals and freshwater pearls. As you can see in the photos, the rustic pendant is very unique, looking like an old artefact from times past. Created from off white polymer clay, the pendant features an eye catching textured design of sacred spirals, glittering gold flakes and a small, round cut out. Reminiscent of flakes of gold floating down a river filled with spiraling eddies and whirlpools, the pendant was carefully hand painted in pale mossy greens, dark mauve and dark browns above; the lower half was left the natural color, the spirals enhanced with brown. The gold flakes are painted in a reflective antique gold color which subtly catches the light and shines when the pendant is turned this way and that. The back is smooth with a pale wash of green and peach. To perfectly enhance the necklace, fancy jasper ovals and glowing freshwater pearls were used. Fancy jasper, a gorgeous semi-precious gemstone, is known for its rich, earthy color palette of mauves, lilacs, creams, browns and greens, sometimes all mixed together in the same stone. Eighteen glossy fancy jasper ovals were used, each oval separated by shiny freshwater pearls that are a pale mauve color, matching the mauves of the pendant. The luster of the pearls is exquisite - you can see my reflection in many of the pearls in the photos. Small copper beads separate the pearls from the jasper. Three freshwater pearls and a sleek copper toggle clasp set finishes the necklace.  Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the GOLD RUSH SPIRALS artisan necklace is a perfect gift idea for the woman who adores wearing unique, one of a kind jewelry with a rustic but sleek flair.

Healing-Hand Beaded Cross Necklace

- Spiral-Palm Pendant, Southwest-Inspired Jewelry

This meaningful Southwestern cross necklace features an earthy mix of carnelian, yellow agate, off-white wood, and green Czech glass melon beads. Its ceramic cross pendant is artisan-made, with a white glaze artfully applied to give its clay color the time-worn look of a historic artifact. The cross is marked with three variants of the ancient spiral symbol: the spiral-palmed hand, the angular spiral, and the soft spiral. At the base is a square block formed by 9 smaller blocks stacked in thirds. This ornamental design presents an auspicious construction of a trio of threes—a number that has significance in many ancient cultures and religions. The spiral-palmed hand in the center is also auspicious and is considered a healing symbol.

In choosing the beads for this piece, I wished to evoke the the American Southwest as well as the four elements. For the element of fire, I chose the carnelian beads, which have been heat-enhanced and are a deep orange-red. I chose the yellow agate for the earth and the green beads for water. The air is signified by the off-white wooden beads. These colors correspond to elemental colors in Tibetan culture, and seemed to fit beautifully into the western motif, complimenting and enhancing the healing cross pendant.

Also included in this eye-catching necklace are:
• TierraCast silver-plated knobbed spacers in two styles
• Sterling silver rounds and rondelle spacers
• Sterling silver lobster clasp and jump ring 
• Silver-filled jump ring connector for cross • Sterling silver wire guards, heavy-duty crimps, and crimp covers 
• TierraCast silver-plated large oval jump ring • High-quality 49-strand beading wire • Japanese seed beads (hidden inside the wooden rounds)
All the above metal components were made in the USA except the sterling rondelle spacers (made in Italy) and the sterling lobster clasp. The beading wire was made in the USA also, and the seed beads were made in Japan. The length of the necklace is 23 inches, including the cross, which is 1.5 inches long.

A mix of tribal and boho styles, this spiral-hand cross necklace would make a unique gift for anyone who loves and appreciates ancient cultures, especially those of the American Southwest. It would also be appropriate for someone religious, as the cross also has a Christian context, such as you see in Chimayo, New Mexico, where native styles and Christian motifs meet and integrate in a deeply moving and memorable way. A one-of-a-kind creation, this necklace was designed and handmade beaded by me with thought, care, and best wishes for its destined wearer. It comes wrapped and ready for gifting for someone special—perhaps you!

ABOUT THE SPIRAL HAND SYMBOL
A hand with a spiral in its palm is a symbol often found in the pictographs of ancient cultures in the southwest United States. It is commonly interpreted as a shaman's handprint and thought to represent power and protection, including healing. Because of these associations, the symbol is often referred to as a healing hand. In dream therapy, the open hand is a fear-dispelling symbol; also a boon-bestowing one, bearing good fortune.

ABOUT THE SPIRAL SYMBOL
The spiral is such a distinctive shape, with a dynamic quality that expresses movement and growth. The spiral can be seen in the form of immense cosmic galaxies as well as in the tiny whorls of a human fingerprint and the microscopic structure of DNA. We see spiraling shapes in certain seashells and plants as well. Since ancient times, humans have found symbolic meaning in spirals in and across a wide variety of cultures. Possible interpretations of spirals as symbols include growth, fertility, the journey through life, time and its passage, the journey beyond life, the sun, protection against evil, and infinity.

Truth Pendant Boho Statement Necklace

- Leather & Greek Beads, Unisex Inspirational Jewelry -

The word "truth" prevails in this inspirational statement necklace that combines an artisan-made word pendant, Mykonos ceramic beads, a carved Tibetan bone bead, and pale orange agate rondelles. The pendant, which is made of polymer clay, is roughly 1 5/8 inches in length and quite durable. It has a background color light olive green and is stamped with brown lettering and a darker green leaf design.

The Mykonos ceramic beads, made in Greece, are colorful eye-catchers that come in two different shapes: tube and washer. The tubes are lime green, bone, and brown in color, and the washers are dark green, lime green, and brown. The bone bead is from Nepal and was carved by Tibetan refugees there. It is decorated with the ancient "evil eye" protector symbol, and so looks like a talisman. I purchased it in a Tibetan Dharma shop in Newport, RI. The agate gemstone rondelles are a light shade of earthy orange and quite shiny.

The necklace also includes pewter daisy spacers and deerskin leather lace (made in the USA). The spacers also have a nice shine and add a metallic glint to the necklace. The deerskin leather lace (also made in the USA) is soft and supple. Although thin, this lace is quite strong and will stretch but not break. I used double slipknots in this piece, which made the length adjustable. The length is set at 31 inches, including the pendant.

A stylish and meaningful boho jewelry creation with tribal affinities, this truth necklace was handmade beaded by me with care, thought, and best wishes for its destined wearer. African Opal and Red Garnet Gemstone Necklace, Earthy Handmade Jewelry

The "Simple Pleasures" handmade necklace features earthy African opal ovals and two shapes of red garnet.

Earthy African opal combined with glowing red garnet creates a beautiful handmade necklace you will want to wear time and time again. Due to its neutral color, the gemstone necklace can be worn dress up or dress down and is named SIMPLE PLEASURES. The seven eye catching African opal gemstones at the front of the necklace have a background of creamy beige. Swirling veins of brick red, green, darker brown and black run through the polished beads, each one different from the other. A few have translucent areas and one even has small druzy inclusions. The shape of the African opal is a four sided oval, the sides catching and reflecting the light as the necklace is worn. The gemstones are capped on each side with sterling silver daisy spacers.

Seven beautiful African opals, separated by red garnet rounds, make up the front of the necklace - each one is unique in its coloration.

Between each African opal oval are round rich red garnet rounds and small sterling silver beads. To add amazing texture to the necklace design, red garnet pebbles finish the back of the necklace, each grouping separated by a small sterling beads. A lovely sterling silver hook clasp set finishes the necklace perfectly. The front side of the pendant features a raised walking cat silhouette while, on the opposite side, the word “purrfect” is found, also raised. The pendant has been oxidized and then polished to give an old silver look and to bring out the beautiful detailing. Three more of the light blue crystals are found on each side of the necklace. Sodalite is a gemstone that can range from dark blue to almost white. As you can see in the photos, the sodalite is mostly shades of blue, from dark to medium with a bit of white here and there. The finish is somewhere between very shiny and matte, possessing a lovely glow. A triangular shaped sterling silver toggle clasp finishes the necklace securely. The PURRFECT necklace was carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs. Perfect jewelry for any woman who adores cats, the unique necklace comes with an extra bonus: when sold, one half (½) of the purchase price will be donated to an animal rescue group to help the four-footed souls find a furever home.

Birds Lotus Flower Pendant Necklace, Red Czech Glass Handmade Jewelry

The Birds and Lotus handmade necklace features a shield shaped pewter pendant with 

an ibis and a lotus flower design and oxblood red Czech glass beads.

Looking like an ancient Mesopotamian artefact, the pendant used as the focal of the BIRDS AND LOTUS handmade necklace is exquisite. Combined with two shapes and sizes of dark oxblood red fire polished Czech glass, the one of a kind necklace is one you’ll want to wear time and time again! The pendant was cast in glowing, lead free pewter here in the U.S. It has a unique shield shape and features two birds, probably ibises, facing a lotus blossom, all raised against the background for beautiful texture. A raised ornamental border with a palm design runs along the two long curved sides of the beautiful pendant. The bail used to connect the piece to the necklace was created with two four petaled flowers. The back of the pendant is smooth and shiny.

Since historians believe glassmaking was discovered about 4000 years ago in Mesopotamia, rustic looking Czech glass was used to perfectly highlight the pendant. The fire polished glass beads (see below to find out more about fire polishing) are primarily a rich, dark oxblood red but also have streaks of jet black and light to dark gray running through them for an aged look. Because of this, each bead is uniquely colored. Two shapes of red Czech glass were used: larger faceted rounds and smaller rice shaped beads. A beautifully textured lead free pewter toggle clasp set finishes the necklace perfectly. Created for the woman who loves one of a kind jewelry with an interesting “story” inspired from ancient times, the unique BIRDS AND LOTUS necklace was carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.

***What is “fire polishing?” A technique used for thousands of years, each bead was cut from a glass rod or tube which left sharp, rough edges and/or ends. To smooth the rough edges, the beads were “flamed” to the glass softening point where the the sharp edges are naturally “fire polished” to a smooth, glassy finish.
